About the book

You don't rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of the struggle you're willing to endure.

Most people spend their lives running from the hard thing. This book is about walking toward it on purpose.

Built on the Ten Laws of the Right Hard Path and the story of a solo attempt to cross Antarctica on foot, The Work Is the Win shows you how to stop chasing the payoff and start loving the process that gets you there.

About the author

Akshay Nanavati

Marine combat veteran. Polar explorer. Author of Fearvana, with a foreword by the Dalai Lama.

After Iraq, Akshay came home to PTSD, alcoholism, and a night where he nearly ended his life. The way out wasn't comfort. It was choosing a harder path on purpose: running ultramarathons, dragging a sled 350 miles across Greenland, and attempting a solo, unsupported crossing of Antarctica.

He didn't finish that crossing. Sixty days and 500 miles in, he was evacuated with a medical emergency. The tactical goal was unmet. The real goal, to find out who he'd become out there, was not.

Today he speaks to companies and teams around the world and coaches elite athletes on the mental game. His work has been featured in Forbes, CNN, Fast Company, and Psychology Today. He lives in Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife Melissa.
